The American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is excited to partner with Microsoft to offer a meaningful summer internship opportunity to a highly motivated and disabled first-year law student. The American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is pleased to partner with Accenture LLP to provide meaningful summer internship opportunities for a very limited number of highly motivated first-year law students with disabilities. The 2022 Summer Law Internship Program will take place virtually at Accenture`s offices. The 1L summer internship will take place from June 1 to July 29, 2022. Interns will receive a scholarship of approximately $7,500. Legal interns will work for 10 to 12 weeks in Microsoft`s Corporate, Foreign and Legal Affairs Department in Redmond, Washington, over the summer. The intern will have a wide range of responsibilities across the department, including researching legal issues that impact business strategy, creating transactional documents, participating in client meetings and product reviews, and collaborating with internal teams on intergroup projects. Prepare to overcome challenges, develop solutions and directly advise the upper class of the world`s most dynamic industry.
Fellows also participate in a series of internal seminars and information sessions with lawyers to learn about the many facets of social law research and the legal system and to create opportunities for long-term professional relationships in the socio-legal field. Previous fellows interacted with lawyers from an international law firm and an intellectual property (IP) law firm, met face-to-face with admissions representatives from local law schools, and zoomed in on nonprofit organizations such as Cabrini Green Legal Aid and the Uptown People`s Law Center. The American Bar Foundation (ABF) is one of the world`s leading research institutes for the empirical and interdisciplinary study of law. The ABF has been an independent nonprofit organization for nearly 70 years, seeking to advance the understanding and improvement of the law through research projects on the most pressing issues in the legal system in the United States and around the world. Many members of the ABF`s research faculty have joint appointments at Chicago-area universities, including Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. The ideal candidate has financial or business experience or interest. The internship will be virtual/remote. This scholarship introduces students to the rewards and requirements of a research-oriented career in law and/or social sciences and provides advice on the many career opportunities under the umbrella of the legal profession. In recent years, fellows have supported the work of faculty members by conducting archival research, creating literature reviews, and coding qualitative data from interviews and newspaper reports. In addition to partnering with a faculty mentor, fellows will meet with other ABF speakers and partners.
