Those engaged in competitive motorsport will usually assemble a harness approved according to FIA 8854/98 standards for 3- and 4-point belts and 8853/98 for 5- and 6-point belts. These standards are widely considered to be the highest standard for passenger belts. Our recommendation depends on the type of activity you use the belt for, whether it`s a road car or a race car, the type of seat to use it with, whether or not you`re wearing a HANS device, and how many belt points you need. So if you need additional advice and would like to talk to us, give us a call and we will be happy to help. This is specially designed in road belts, so the mechanism for getting in and out of the seat is well known. In the event of an accident, the emergency services know how to operate the new belt and buckle. This is really a key feature of the road belts we have available. I also have bucket seats that I recently bought (Cobra Monaco), so my last thing on the list that needs to be checked off after an alloy wheel is sorting my belts. Trial and retry fees are at the discretion of the owner of the test facility, subject to legal maximum prices.
The vehicle owner is subjected to only one repeated test per TÜV test. If the vehicle does not pass the TÜV repeat test, it will undergo a full TÜV test at the full TÜV test fee. My car only has straps, the normal buckle strap has been removed. Everyone loves the look of fia straps, which come with a 3-inch strap and buckle clearance. But depending on your project, what your vehicles are for, they may not be suitable. There is a wide range of road belts designed for a completely different application, so what is this difference and why choose one? If it`s at the discretion of the TÜV, then that`s fine, I don`t mind if it`s technically „illegal“ as long as it`s safe and there`s a TÜV. At present, wiring harnesses that have only FIA approval are not suitable for TÜV testing unless the vehicle representative can demonstrate (documented evidence) that the standards marked on the beam are compliant with or equivalent to BS 3254:1960 or BS3254:Part 1 1988. A TÜV test certificate confirms that the vehicle has met the minimum acceptable standards of environmental and road safety at the time of the test.
This does not mean that the vehicle is in a condition to drive for the entire lifetime of the certificate. The test shall not cover the condition of the engine (other than emissions), clutch or transmission. The maintenance necessary for the reliable and efficient operation of the vehicle – but not for its safety – is part of a service control recommended by the manufacturers, but is not a legal requirement for the operation of the vehicle on public roads. It is illegal to use an unfreezed vehicle that requires testing without a current TÜV in a manner defined as a road in the Road Traffic Act 1988. it applies not only to motorways (or a relevant road in Scotland), but also includes other places for public use which are not motorways. This applies except for the round trip (subject to insurance conditions) of a booked TÜV test or for repairs to correct errors from a previous test. Possession of an up-to-date VT20 certificate is a prerequisite for obtaining excise duty on vehicles, and advertising for used cars often indicates how many months remain to run on the current TÜV certificate (i.e. the VT20 certificate); although the VT20 indicates that it does not in any way guarantee road safety at the time of sale.
A vehicle could suffer significant damage after performing a TÜV, but the certificate would still be valid, and obtaining a new certificate is not required by law (some insurance companies may require a new test, but this is their practice, not the law). However, driving a vehicle that is in a dangerous state on a public highway is still illegal, regardless of its test status. I like to have a choice, and 3-point belts don`t feel as safe as belts. Road belts tend to use the same 2-inch strap used for a standard seat belt. This is true for 90% of wiring harness belts on the market, with a few exceptions to OMP and Takata. This too should be very close to the specification of the standard seat belt of a road vehicle. Well, what I`d like to have are 5- or 6-point straps, so I`m doing some research. Many people mount seat belts to improve the safety features of their sports car. Some are obliged to do so if they participate in motorsport competitions.
