DMX doesn`t do much either and part of me wishes it was a sequel to Exit Wounds instead, as it`s a bit of a missed opportunity. Amazon.de Widgets review: It`s been a long time since Steven Segal`s name has been able to sell a movie; When I first heard about Beyond the Law, I was hoping it would be a long-awaited sequel to Above the Law, but unfortunately it wasn`t. I think Exit Wounds was Seagal`s last really entertaining movie and it was promising because Seagal and DMX (the co-star of Exit Wound) were reunited. Updates: Well, it looks like there might be a grain of truth in the news we covered a week ago. Seagal partner Woodie Mister explains that he and the Aikido star are officially developing a sequel to Above the Law (via Woody`s Twitter/FCS). Of course, nothing is 100% certain until the start of production, but fingers crossed. If a sequel to Above the Law sees the light of day, you`ll definitely hear from us. I really wish Seagal would hook it. It`s strange, because I`m looking forward to Van Damme, Dolph, Dudikoff and even Norris and the dragon. Seagal is a big bastard who doesn`t care about quality control, makes an effort and even tries to play moderately decent fight scenes. Fuck him. As for 60-year-olds who make action movies, I`d like Bruce Li to make movies instead. Synopsis: When a former detective learns of the murder of his separated son, he ventures into the dark streets he knew so well.
Armed, dangerous and with nothing to lose, he must face the ruthless local crowd in his mission of revenge. I`ve always loved Johnny Messner because he has this natural tough guy charisma and he has his voice, especially in Beyond the Law, where it`s sometimes hard to understand what he`s really saying. The same goes for Seagal, who always puts on that Louisiana accent and mumbles his lines so we can barely hear him; It`s hard to believe that this is the same man who starred in the Under Siege movies. He shows no emotion (as usual) and only has a short fight of 5 seconds at the end. Beyond the Law is a 2019 action film directed by James Cullen Bressack. It stars Steven Seagal, Johnny Messner, DMX and Bill Cobbs. The film follows a former detective who vows to avenge the death of his separated son and eventually accepts the local mafia.[1] There are no reviews for Beyond the Law, as the film has not yet been released. The real star of Beyond the Law is the current star of the B-movie Johnny Messner, who plays gray-haired ex-cop Frank Wilson, one of those gruff survivalists who lives alone in a cabin in the woods where he catches his own food (although the production can only find a rather skinny fish to take home in his opening scene).
Frank`s estranged son, Chance (Chester Rushing), became involved with dangerous people and was found murdered, executed by confused criminal Desmond Packard (Zack Ward). Frank`s old police buddy, Detective Ray Munce (DMX), takes Frank back to the nameless „big city,“ where Frank spends a lot of time sneaking through dimly lit warehouses and alleys to track down his son`s killer. If that doesn`t happen, fans will still have a mountain full of Seagal movies waiting to wait, including Attrition, China Salesman, Contract to Kill, Cypher, Gunfighter, End of a Gun, Deadly Arsenal, and Four Towers. His most recent films include Code of Honor, The Asian Connection and Perfect Weapon. I would prefer and Under Siege movie. The fact that he was a chef for so long would explain his incredible weight gain. Beyond the Law could have been a fun Exit Wounds reunion, but for some reason Seagal and DMX never share the screen and miss memorable action scenes, but it has a great supporting cast and Johnny Messner is fun watching it growl through various thugs seeking revenge. Beyond the Law (not to be confused with Seagal`s 1988 debut album, Above the Law) wastes this opportunity, just as it wastes all his meagre resources, as Seagal and DMX never share a single stage. It`s questionable if Seagal is actually sharing a scene with anyone, as he`s rarely in the same picture as other actors, so it seems he shot most of his performance alone on set.
Despite his best calculation, Seagal has only a supporting role and plays a crime boss who has plenty of henchmen to respond to his offers. This means that Seagal spends most of his screen time sitting down and, at the end of the film, only wakes up for a few seconds for what could be benevolently described as an action sequence. The film was released on December 6, 2019 on VOD and in limited theaters. [2] [3] [4] The DVD was released on January 14, 2020. It is also a reunion for Seagal and DMX, who had already collaborated on Exit Wounds in 2001 5 . Beyond the Law was DMX`s last theatrical appearance before his death in April 2021. Police Detective Ray Munce (DMX) was called to the scene. He then finds Frank Wilson`s residence through Frank`s closest friend and neighbor, Mr. Swilley (Bill Cobbs).
The detective informs Frank of his son`s murder and Frank goes in search of justice for his son. He is visited and supported by a colleague named Ashley Millet, who worked in the D.A. office. Meanwhile, news quickly reaches the local mob of Chance`s murder. Boss Augustino „Finn“ Adair (Seagal) is upset to learn that Packard killed the „son of a policeman.“ To make matters worse, Frank Wilson is not just a former police officer living off-grid, but a man Boss Adair personally knows as „one of the dirtiest cops“ in town, and a man whose life needs to be bought or ended. A young man named Chance Wilson falls into a life of corruption and returns to Intercity against the wishes of his father Frank Wilson (Johnny Messner).
