The Pathways program will be a free program consisting of Saturday academies. Sessions include lectures, panels and workshops, as well as small group and individual counseling. The sessions are led by law professors, current law students, and practicing lawyers from the New York area. The Legal Pathways Fellows program helps University of Washington Tacoma alumni admit students to law school. The costs associated with the law school application process, as well as the lack of resources to take expensive LSAT preparation courses, are a significant factor hindering the application for admission to law school by students from underrepresented groups, including first-generation college students. students who are part of underrepresented minority groups and incarcerated former students. The Legal Pathways Fellows program provides LSAT preparation, mentorship, and assistance in applying to law schools for University of Washington Tacoma students and alumni who wish to be admitted to law school. „The Legal Pathway Fellows program helped me see my aspirations as possible – as someone with multiple marginalizations and barriers, economic and otherwise, even the opportunity to enter this field seemed daunting at first.
However, the support, guidance, and guidance with LSAT, applications, and the many challenges along the way have prepared me to the point where I can compete with other students and have given me the confidence to „reach for the stars.“ SLIP is a competitive, paid DOJ program selection based on many aspects of a candidate`s background. These aspects include academic performance, participation in a law review or moot court, and clinical or legal aid experience. Instead of waiting for diverse talent to apply to law school and later to elite law firms, the Flyer Legal Pathways program proactively researches, recruits and invests for talented students who are capable of excelling in the legal profession. To participate in the Pathways program, you must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities and community colleges); vocational, technical, vocational and commercial schools; postgraduate studies; or other qualified educational institutions pursuing a qualifying degree. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 with no grade below C and be at least half enrolled. At the end of the program, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a fully funded LSAT preparation.

LSPP is housed at Columbia Law School and is designed to foster relationships between Columbia University and surrounding communities, increase true diversity and representation within the legal profession, and foster traditionally underrepresented communities. The law school has recently experienced a wave of success, improving selectivity, average law school admission test scores and grade point averages of incoming students, as well as placement. The law school has attracted more applicants and savvy students by offering flexibility with additional options such as a hybrid online JD program, 3+2 programs for a faster bachelor`s degree and law degree, and a leadership specialization program with comprehensive scholarships, personalized leadership training, and mentorship by prominent judges and lawyers. „It`s really great to be a part of the legal community and meet people in Taft before you even set foot in law school,“ Dobbins said. „It was just great to meet mentors and have people to advise me.“ Currently enrolled students may be employed through the Department of Justice`s Pathways internship program. Interns working under the program can work up to 40 hours per week and receive paid sick leave. Those whose term of office lasts more than 90 days are entitled to paid annual leave.
