In April, 10 Ashurst LLP runners ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Toynbee Hall and raised more than £3,000 for life-saving legal assistance that helps families and households exercise their rights and protect their income and safety. The runners ran through Westminster and the city of London, completing 13.1 miles under bright sunshine. But what clients usually need most is someone to listen, help them understand unknown legal documents, and point them in the right direction. Every year, we provide thousands of people with free legal assistance on a range of UK law issues.
We are a volunteer-run advisory service, providing high quality legal advice to the people of London. Our volunteers are a mix of lawyers, lawyers, trainee lawyers and law students. „At a time when legal aid is being drastically reduced and legal aid centres are closed, there are fewer and fewer opportunities to access free, high-quality legal advice,“ says Jasmine. But with rising energy bills and the cost of living, unfortunately, more and more people are going into debt and households are collapsing. The need for debt and civil law advice is also increasing. London Legal Walk: Monday, October 18, 2021 The Toynbee Hall team is walking 10km down the London Legal Walk to ensure the people of Tower Hamlets have access to justice. Over the past year, our Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) has continued to support members of our community who need us most through our online advice.
The free legal aid service, with the support of pro bono lawyers, offers the following free advice: „The clinic provides them with a place where they can be heard and advised in a safe and all-female environment.“ I was very impressed by the way the volunteer articling students handled legal issues far removed from their day-to-day duties and the impact of their advice on people`s lives. Julia Wookey and Howard Kennedy Fellows share their experiences as volunteer volunteers at the Free Legal Advice Centre at Toynbee Hall. They advise FLAC as volunteers at Toynbee Hall. Since 1898, the free legal aid centre at Toynbee Hall has been run by volunteer volunteers who sacrifice their time to. Individuals who need immigration advice should attend one of the walk-in sessions above, and we will give you an appointment to see an advisor if we have one available. In 2021, FLAC advised nearly 1,000 people despite the ongoing disruptions caused by Covid-19 lockdowns. On Tuesday 28 June, we will be taking part in the London Legal Support Trust`s 10km legal walk to support free frontline legal services. „Access to quality counselling can mean the difference between a family becoming homeless as a result of unlawful eviction. Or being able to have a roof over their head while they find other options. In addition to its long-standing evening clinics, the centre has grown in recent years to support the community. It now offers a specialist immigration counselling clinic and the only face-to-face women`s clinic in London.
